New SmartyrProjects Module added to SmartyrDXP

How often have you visited a website with a "Latest Projects" tab, and when you go to view the projects, there are only a few from years ago when the website was first built? Maybe your own site is guilty of this? The idea to show your projects to potential customers was a great one, but it was just too hard for you to keep these up to date.

At Probity Web Marketing, we see this issue all the time. We even have it with our own clients, where we chase them to take photos from the job site and email them to us with a brief description of the project. But between taking the photos to finding the time to email them to us with a brief blurb, they get sidetracked with business etc and we never get them. We figured there had to be a better (or Smartyr) way for them to take photos and upload them with a brief blurb at the same time from the job site. Introducing SmartyrProjects.

What is SmartyrDXP?

Before we get into SmartyrProjects, let's do a quick refresher on what SmartyrDXP is. Back in 2019 the website platform (CMS) we were using to build and manage all our sites was shut down, and we needed to move to a different platform. After doing a thorough review of what was available, we made the decision to build our own platform. The main reasons for this was it gave us the ability to easily structure our websites for our proven SEO strategies. It also meant that we could build a platform that we believed would revolutionise and simplify how small business owners managed their own websites. Up until now, our focus has been on building a platform using the latest technology that delivers for our SEO clients. Now we have achieved this, we are moving our focus onto building out the many functionalities we have dreamed up over the years to simplify things for our clients. SmartyrProjects is the first of these.

What is the purpose of SmartyrProjects?

There are several key points that we wanted to achieve with our projects module. These are:

  • An easy way for clients to get their staff  (or themselves) to capture photos and information on the different projects they complete every week.
  • Projects that can be easily captured, but then optimised for SEO purposes.
  • Efficient way for clients to take and share images with us for use throughout their website.
  • Expand on our proven SEO structure for websites with another level to our topic clusters. Additional cross-linking opportunities for services and suburbs.

So how easy is it to capture a new project?

SmartyrProjects does all the hard work

Not only does SmartyrProjects make it easy to capture a project, but it also does a lot of behind the scenes work to help your website remain fast. One of the issues with having images on your website is that the larger file sizes slow down the speed of your website. This is further compounded when you have a gallery of images like a project. The correct way to optimise for this, is to convert your images into a web friendly format (WebP) instead of the traditional formats (jpg, png etc) and set up different sizes for different device screen sizes. In other words, when you look at an image on a mobile phone, it doesn't need to be as large as when on a desktop computer. 

SmartyrProjects takes care of all this automatically when uploading the image from your phone.
