Jarrod has always had a passion for small business. Having grown up with a father who built one small business after the next, he was always determined to one day build his own small business. This journey began in 2007, after spending 15 years managing in various hotels and pubs throughout Australia, by becoming a Business Coach and starting an Icon Business Solutions Franchise.
After 3 years as a Small Business Coach, Jarrod became passionate about helping small business owners achieve their dreams. Whilst being a Business Coach was enjoyable and rewarding, he saw that one area that all his clients really seemed to be struggling, was with marketing and sales. This was further compounded by the growth in the internet, which was still relatively new, with only around 50% of small businesses having a website. Furthermore, the vast majority of those that did have a website, weren't actually getting any sales out of it. In general, there was a lot of confusion and uncertainty in how small businesses should be leveraging the internet to grow their business. So Jarrod decided to set up a new business aimed at building websites for small business.
After building a few websites for his coaching clients, it became very obvious that just having a website wasn't enough. Jarrod likes to use the metaphor of having a great looking brochure that just sits in your office. Unless you work out how to get the brochure out to your target market, they aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Similarly, a great website needs consistent marketing activity like SEO or Google Ads etc to make sure it is seen by your target market. So this motivated Jarrod to start learning Search Engine Optimisation to get his client websites found and converting.
One of Jarrod's first clients was Fallon Solutions, a large multi-trade business in Brisbane. After building their new website, Jarrod offered his services for SEO and started the ongoing process of learning what does and doesn't work with search engine optimisation. Very quickly the new website started to grow in both visitors, and more importantly, conversions. In fact, this was something that set Probity Web Marketing apart from their competitors, we have always put our focus on conversions (webforms, phone calls etc) rather than visitors or keyword rankings, which was the industry norm. As the results for Fallon Solutions grew, so did the number of other small business owners (especially trade businesses), wanting to work with us on their digital marketing.
Whilst Jarrod now has staff undertaking the day to day digital marketing activities for our clients, he is still heavily involved in developing the strategies we use to grow their sales. This includes looking beyond the different marketing channels to other ways we can help our clients grow their sales and keep the process simple and stress-free.
